Photoshop Challenge 1
This week's project was to transform a picture of a man from boring and dull and plain into creative and interesting using tools we've learned already because of our last assignment. When given the image of the man, I didn't know what to do. Our teacher gave us some examples, so those were in my head. But I wanted to do something different. Unlike some of the kids in my class, I am not a photoshop master. My edit turned out pretty simple. It doesn't stand out in the crowd, but I still think it's cute. I started with the jacket. I turned down the opacity to make the texture of the jacket still visible while adding the design. My theme was 'The Holiday Season' even though it is nowhere close to Christmas and my guy doesn't look that Christmass-y. I made the jacket have a holly pattern and the hair is green. I made the undershirt red when before it was white.
Above is the final result. Below is what I worked from.
This project definitely tested my basic photoshop skills. Now I am certain of how to use clipping masks and I learned that turning the opacity down helped me work a lot. I used clipping masks to create the holly jacket and then I used clipping masks to add the background. Then I used an adjustment layer on the man's red shirt to add a richer color and some shadow to it in hopes of making it look more realistic and to help it stand out some more. Some feedback I got was that I didn't use a blending mode throughout my layers so I may want to look back and review blending modes because off of the top of my head I am not sure what it means. Even though I did make some mistakes, I am happy with the end result and I will improve for the next project.
