Pop Art Project
The Story
This project was difficult for me, and I didn't really know where to start whatsoever. I ended up starting off with the face. I used a dotted paintbrush to color over Morgan, my model's, face, hoping to give her a Lichenstein-look. Let's just say that it didn't go too well! I next tried coloring her hair red and her body yellow... and then purple... and then pink... Morgan looked like Ariel, and it was not cute. In the beginning, it was hard to crop Morgan because of her hair. Her hair is awesome, but the day we took photos it was very windy. I looked up a Youtube tutorial ( https://youtu.be/bT04Owgwrts ) in hopes of gaining some inspiration because I had none. I really liked the tutorial! But it didn't turn out the way I would have liked. I am not going to complain too much though because it didn't look the worst. I decided on an orange and blue with hints of purple for my theme; bright colors. A pop artist that inspired me at first was Roy Lichenstein for his bright primary-color focused designs and comic book-esque look. I tried to go for that at first, but it just wasn't working out.
How I Did It
In my design, I used the filter "glowing edges" to give my design a sketchy look. On top of the glowing edges filter I added the "subtract" adjustment layer which wove the "glowing edges" filter in with the real photo. After the filter and adjustment layers were applied I changed the levels to make my image brighter because the adjustment layer darkened my image and also smoothed Morgan's face out because the "glowing edges" filter added unnecessary lines to her face.
