Q4 Reflection
Alright! It's been a while since we've blogged, but its because we have been very busy with our quarter 4 project. Our project was a shark tank presentation with three other e-Comm students. Every two weeks we moved to a different class (video, graphics, animation) and then integrated web with graphics. I didn't like how we were forced to move through the stations generally quickly. We kind of had different views on a couple of different things like our company logo and location of the commercial, but it was never a huge issue. We always talked it out and came to an agreement. I really learned how to work with a group on a longer term project. All of my group members cooperated which was nice, and I saw what it was like to watch every group member working efficiently and then end up with good quality work. I think I did pretty well. I put my heart, soul and time into our company website. But over all my group worked very well and I learned what it was like to work on a good team.
Time
In class the boys of our group joked and messed around sometimes, but they always got their work done. Something I liked about our group was that we always asked our other group members on their opinions of our work. One of the guys would ask if I thought the box design was alright and I would tell them I thought it was great or give them something I thought they could use to improve. I asked the group for their opinions on my stuff too. There weren't any big critique sessions or anything, it was all just little stuff as we worked. When we had free time our group did homework.
Strengths
Our group was very good with finishing our projects in time and we all communicated well. If there were any questions and we weren't in class, our group used the group chat. When we were all in class we got along and asked each other how to do something on one of the programs or like mentioned before, asked our opinions on their work. I think that I did a good job communicating and asking my fellow members for help. I was proud of my knowledge of the programs that weren't illustrator (how am I going to survive graphic design next year...) along with the commercial I made.
Areas for Improvement
Its always hard to think of real weaknesses so I'm having a difficult time thinking of some for our group. I also thought our group did pretty good over all. I know that I personally need to work on coming up with more ideas and not being afraid to share my ideas.
Summary
This wasn't my favorite quarter because we were very rushed and group work isn't one of my strong suits, but I did like having something to work around, almost like having a theme, and I liked that the other members could help me out with the stuff I had lots of difficulties on *cough cough* animation *cough cough*. My biggest takeaway from this quarter was just learning what its like to do a long term group project. I have never worked with the same small group for this long before. Next year I would like to feel more creatively free and I hope to share more of my ideas. Thank you, e9! See you next year!
